John Downey is the Chief Information Security Officer at GoFundMe, where he leads security for the world’s largest crowdfunding platform. Before GoFundMe, he built and led security programs across fintech and insurance, including at PayPal, Braintree, and Root, after starting his career as a software engineer. In his free time, John contributes to open source projects and volunteers with organizations including the Dystonia Medical Research Foundation and FIRST Robotics.
