The #GenAISummit Journey So Far

The Generative AI Summit was the first event launched by team R+D.

When the business unit was formed in February 2023, we were on the lookout for the right topic.  In between all the research calls, reading of reports and scouring of technological trends, we happened across ChatGPT, just as it was entering the wider public’s consciousness.

It was immediately apparent that this wasn’t like the hype around blockchain and NFTs that preceded it, this was real and would fundamentally change how businesses operate in the near future – so we went for it and ended up launching the first commercial conference on the topic globally.

Rather than a purely technical conference, we made a conscious decision to build the event around the needs of the people leading Generative AI initiatives in their business – how do you get buy in, run pilots, decide on the best models, choose which data to leverage and upskill your teams.

The first event ran in May 2023 (only 10 weeks from when we launched the agenda!) and we welcomed over 250 enterprise AI, data and technology practitioners to Syon Park in London to share best practice in leveraging this new technology.

Fast forward to today and the mission remains the same – build an event and a community that helps those leading Generative AI in their business to unlock its value.  But the content has evolved in line with increasing adoption and utilization rates – moving from ‘deciding use cases’ and ‘running pilots’ to ‘getting products into production’ and ‘delivering tangible ROI for the business’.
