Shazia Khan is a highly accomplished legal professional with over two decades of experience in banking, finance, corporate law, data privacy, and AI governance. She is currently a Senior Privacy Counsel at Axiom Law, where she provides expert advice on complex data issues. Her extensive background, including leadership roles in data privacy at major entertainment and technology companies, allows her to expertly navigate regulatory landscapes like GDPR and the AI Act. This expertise was honed during a key assignment leading data privacy for Smart Automation and RPA agents, which included the application of AI at a prominent UK financial institution. Shazia is a Founding Quantum Member of Women in AI Governance (WiAIG) and was the founder and leader of its global #BritishWomeninAIGovernance chapter. She was also shortlisted for the PICCASO Awards Europe 2025 for "Compliance Champion of the Year" and "Rising Star of the Year," recognizing her exceptional work in the field. Her unique perspective is that AI governance begins with a mindset shift—a gradual process that, once in place, allows for the effective implementation of a good governance framework.
