David de Kock, Senior Director of Data Science & Analytics Product Management at Elsevier, a global leader in research publishing and information analytics, leads the Product Data Science and Analytics Platform and Services teams. He and his teams have pioneered the application of Elsevier's RAI principles to an in-house recommender and decision support system, to understand and mitigate bias amplification to assure fairness. This achievement laid the foundation for a dedicated central function at Elsevier focused on RAI and DS/AI governance and strategy. David's academic background includes an MSc in Physics from the University of Amsterdam, and he began his professional journey in management consultancy at PwC. With a diverse career, he has held various roles in technology and data management, and he ran his own successful start-ups.
