Agenda Day 2

8:45 AM PRESENTATION: SCALING SMART - BALANCING DATA & AI INNOVATION WITH DEMAND AND COST IN A PE-BACKED INSURER

In a private equity-backed insurer, every pound of spend is scrutinised while internal demand for new data and AI capabilities keeps growing. In this session, Mosaic Insurance's Chief Data Officer will share how she balances innovation, stakeholder demand and cost, scaling her data and AI stack without "big-bank" budgets. She will explore how reducing data run-costs funds targeted AI investments, how she prioritises which business demands to serve first, and how these decisions are building a scalable, sale-ready data foundation for Mosaic's next stage of growth.

  • Choosing what to build next: How to prioritise competing business demands for data & AI capabilities when every investment must earn its place.
  • From cost-cutting to growth: Practical examples of reducing data run-costs and redirecting savings into high-impact AI initiatives.
  • Designing for tomorrow's scale: How Mosaic's strategic partnership model (outsourcing core tech and operations to a small number of deep partners) shapes architecture decisions and enables a leaner, more scalable data function.
  • Communicating trade-offs: Techniques for explaining "yes", "no" and "not yet" to stakeholders when balancing innovation ambition with budget and capacity.
